First printed in 1952, the King James Version Longprimer Bible is a sumptuous, traditional reference setting of the Authorized Version. Developed by Oxford University Press and now published exclusively by R. L. Allan, it has for many years been our flagship Bible, renowned the world over for its clarity of type and our beautiful bindings.

The new Longprimer Sovereign edition retains the same clear type as the standard Longprimer but is printed on a 38gsm writable Bible paper with the highest levels of opacity, and increased margins (one inch on outside and bottom edges) to show the text block off to greatest effect and further enhance the reading experience.

This mustard yellow calfskin LIMITED EDITION - the first ever 'special' in the Longprimer Sovereign range - has been created to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of Hampton Court Palace, located 5 miles from R.L. Allan's Tolworth office and the site where King James I of England (King James VI of Scotland) called together key Bible scholars and theologians in 1604 to commission the King James Version of the Bible.

To further celebrate this landmark publication each copy will also include a limited edition art print of Hampton Court Palace, painted to special commission for R.L.
