Who was Mrs McCrindle?

I love that word serendipity. Something like happy happenstance. When good things happen unexpectedly in a beautiful way.

One of our Allan customers recently bought an old book at a local auction entitled ‘On the Voyage’ , published by R L Allan in 1883 . The fly leaf is signed by the great man himself and it was clearly a gift to his friend, Mrs McCrindle. Who was she and why did Robert Allan give her a copy of this book?

I’m delighted that our kind customer’s lucky find at auction will be a blessing to us. She is sending me this precious volume to keep safely in our company archives.

A serendipitous  event for us and a token of affection for  Mrs McCrindle, whoever she was.
